For Electro-Pop Brooklyn Trio, Summer 2009 Means Radio Play, MTV Hosting and a Whopping 40 City Tour
Plushgun, the Brooklyn-based alt-pop trio, appear to have a hit on their hands with “Just Impolite,” the current single from their debut album, “Pins & Panzers” (Tommy Boy). “Just Impolite” has earned Plushgun loads of dancing fans and taken the band from a Williamsburg bedroom studio to nationwide radio play, MTV hosting, Rolling Stone raves, foreign label deals and a recently confirmed 40+ city summer tour.
“Just Impolite” has pointed boots tapping at alt-pop radio in key cities across the US: Live 105 in San Francisco, CD101 in Columbus, KTNI in Denver and WFNX in Boston, where the station is presenting the band’s May 19th show at T.T. Bears, as part of their $7 series.
Meanwhile, the popular “Just Impolite” video, which stars indie actors Juno Temple, Brittany Snow and Shiloh Fernandez, has opened doors at MTV, where it is in steady rotation on “MTV Hits” and Plushgun have been invited to host MTV2’s indie rock music video show, “Subterranean.”
The band’s infectious pop has gone global. “Pins & Panzers” is set for a June 8 release in the UK and a June 5 release in Germany, where the band has been embraced by German Rolling Stone (July issue) and retailers have picked the album as a “New Heroes” (= “band to watch”) title. Down under, “Just Impolite,” which has just been sent out to Australian radio programmers, is expected to mirror its US success. Already rocking there on Triple J Radio, Australia’s youth-oriented nationally-networked, government-funded radio station.
Finally, Plushgun will embark on an ambitious two month, 40+ city US tour opening for Nightmare Of You, starting at the Rock And Roll Hotel in Washington, DC. Please check the band’s MySpace page for the most current tour schedule.
